View Full Version : Two New Races, Expansion for WOW?

Are two new races coming to Blizzard's World of Warcraft? WoW Insider says yes, and may appear in a possible expansion called World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. According to unspecified sources, the new races will be Worgen (Alliance) and Goblin (Horde). Apparently, the conclusion that Cataclysm will include two new races stems from four new textures of Halloween masks found in the last PTR build: Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoF, Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoM, Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoF, and Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoM. Despite this, goblins in WoW have been a neutral race since the game's release.

In addition, the new expansion may very well change the face of Azeroth itself, updating the four-year-old MMORPG to better compete with Star Wars: The Old Republic launching next year. Rawcast theorizes that a massive water-based event will obliterate a good portion of Azeroth including the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms (hence the use of Cataclysm). Granted the scenario is just a theory, the site lists several reasons for its conclusion, citing support for water-based adventures and low-level areas becoming irrelevant with each new patch and expansion.

If a new expansion and two new races will indeed be released for World of Warcraft, Blizzard will more than likely announce their existence during BlizzCon 2009 later this month.

I would like to see them get off their ass and make a world event. WOTLK was a boring joke. At least when the portal opened shit was falling out of the sky and pissed off demons were hanging out in front of Ironforge.

However, worgens...shit I do not want to reroll, but might have too if that is legit.

I'm calling bullshit. First of all, what better way to generate add revenue than to claim you have leaked information about a crazy popular game. Second, the worgen and goblin Halloween masks are not the only new mask textures that were added to the game in the last patch. There were also murlock, vrykul, ogre, and naga masks added.

Goblin and worgen are no more likely to become new races than murlocks and ogres.

For what its worth, and for the hell of it, I'll side with the propaganda on this one, they did patch in additional masks AFTER the news of goblin and worgens was leaked. I'm calling 100% legit. I mean, I read it on the internet, and we all know, if its on the internet, it must be true.

They do need some kind of graphics overhaul for sure, especially since graphically Aion is like a way-better-looking WoW clone.

BIOWEARS new MMO looks good, and should put a dent in the WOW player base.
Im not going to say much, cause we all know how my last venture with AOC went, but BIOWEAR and KOTOR were very good games in there day and this MMO should be no difrent.

Gnomeregan will be part of the expansion as well and gnomes might be able to reclaim their capital. (The last part is still unconfirmed)

I would reactivate for this.
